Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Scores a PG
By Mali Elfman
For those of you who know the books, a PG seems awfully mild for what these films are capable of. The books begin to deal with more adult subject matters and therefore should be for a more adult audience. I would LOVE to see a rated-R Harry Potter, although I know that will never happen. I expected this film to at least be a solid, if not pushing boundaries PG-13 film. But no, the film had been given a PG rating for “scary images, some violence, language and mild sensuality.” How scary can something be with a PG rating? My 4-year-old brother can watch PG films and I expect more from my Potter!
What do you think? Do you think this film can be done properly with less than a PG-13 rating?

I must say that the newest trailer looks phenomenal, and I will of course see the movie at a midnight show, but I'm worried that they may have watered down all the good parts to get the PG rating (why would they want a PG rating anyway?). Here's hoping the MPAA is becoming desensitized and PG-13 in 2007 = PG in 2009. =P
