D.J. Caruso to Direct ‘Jack the Giant Killer’
By Krystal Clark
D.J. Caruso is best known for directing his successful back to back thrillers Disturbia and Eagle Eye. Both films debuted at number one, and were headlined by current golden boy, Shia LaBeouf. According to Variety, Caruso will add his twisted touch to a well known children’s classic that’s being adapted for an older audience. The director has been tapped to helm Jack the Giant Killer. The film is of course, an ode to the classic English fairytale, Jack and the Beanstalk.
When a princess is kidnapped, a long-standing peace between men and giants becomes threatened, and a young farmer is given an opportunity to lead a dangerous expedition to the giant kingdom to rescue her.
Since the project is currently in preproduction, no definite release date has been set. As for casting, a lot of people are already wondering if Caruso favorite Shia LaBeouf is attached to star, but there is no confirmation on that. I don’t know if he would work for this project, so lets chalk it up as speculation.
