They’ve finally found the male lead for the sequel to 1982′s Tron. Casting has already been confirmed for original stars Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner, as well as, newcomers Beau Garrett and Olivia Wilde. According to THR, 24 year old  Friday Night Lights alum Garrett Hedlund is the lucky actor who has been chosen to follow in the footsteps of Bridges’ character Kevin Flynn.

More on Hedlund’s casting after the jump.

Hedlund has been considered one of those actors that is on the cusp within the industry, though without much of a profile in middle America. Starring in a $150 million effects-intensive feature could change that.

Well, I guess that explains his appeal. Casting for Tron attracted several of Hollywood’s most promising young stars. Hedlund beat out Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling, and Star Trek up and comer Chris Pine for his role. Hedlund made his feature film debut in 2004′s Troy, and also co-starred in the urban drama Four Brothers alongside Mark Wahlberg, and Tyrese Gibson.
