Whitaker Wants to Join ‘The Expendables’
By Krystal Clark
Remember a while back when I reported on Sylvester Stallone’s next action project, The Expendables, which co-stars martial artists/actors, Jet Li and Jason Statham? When I first read about it, I thought to myself, “at least they know what audience they’re targeting.” Yet, now because of their latest casting, that logic’s been thrown out the window. According to THR, Academy Award Winner Forest Whitaker is close to signing on to co-star in the film.
Whitaker would play the CIA liaison for a group of mercenaries (played by Stallone, Jet Li, Randy Couture and Jason Statham) who are clandestinely sent to South America to overthrow a dictator.
Did you just read that? They said former UFC champion Randy Couture is in this as well. How many martial artist superstars do you need in one movie? I wonder what attracted Whitaker to this role? I think he’s a talented guy, definitely too talented for this. If I could just get my hands on a copy if that script!
