Yes, it’s true. Planet of the Apes may be back with another installment. According to CHUD, the co-chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment Tom Rothman, stated that a prequel may be in the works for the Apes franchise which first began forty years ago.
We are very close at Fox on a new Apes script- this one a kind of prequel story before the first story, with a return to the social thematics that mark the first one, but with an entirely contemporary setting – Earth 2009.
More on the sequels after the jump.

It’s almost as if Empire magazine read my Wolverine article, and posted the above photo as a response. There’s been a serious outcry for Gambit aka Remy LeBeau to be in a live-action movie ever since X-Men came out in 2000. Yet, the most we ever got was his name on a computer screen, which was seen in X2: X-Men United. With Gavin Hood’s prequel, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, we finally get some card throwing, Gambit action! Empire released an exclusive photo of Gambit (Taylor Kitsch), as he appears in the upcoming comic book flick. The cards are there, but the red eyes aren’t. Maybe they”ll add them in post production?

As if the January 2009 issue of Empire Magazine wasn’t giving us enough already, they’ve gotten a hold of some exclusive pics from Michael Mann’s Public Enemies. The gangster movie that opens next summer, follows career criminal John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) and his gang as they rob banks, and duck the cops simultaneously. In this case the cops are more like FBI agents, and one in particular becomes a serious thorn in Dillinger’s side. The man is Melvin Purvis, portrayed by Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), and he makes it his life’s work to bring down Dillinger for every dirty deed he’s ever done.

This week it seems like Hugh Jackman is everywhere. He’s currently promoting his new film Australia (read ScreenCrave Interview here) and was voted People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive. That’s great coverage for him, but for die hard comic book fans there’s only one Jackman project that we’re interested in. I’m talking about X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The action flick isn’t going to drop until next May, but Jackman makes an early appearance as Wolverine for the January issue of Empire Magazine. He along with co-star Danny Huston (William Stryker), both gave exclusive interviews to the mag telling fans what they can expect from their characters in the upcoming film.

This looks like the American version of Love, Actually. Only in this one every seems to be playing games, unable to make connections, and avoiding commitment. Sounds honest! Director Ken Kwapis of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and License to Wed, brings us ANOTHER romantic comedy, He’s Just Not That Into You, with almost every good looking/popular face in Hollywood: Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, Ginnifer Goodwin, Scarlett Johansson, Bradley Cooper, Kevin Connolly, and Justin Long (so good in the Zach and Miri).

Do you ever find yourself asking, where are all the documentaries that feature string quartets? To be honest, I don’t either. However, the folks over at First Run Features were kind enough to send one over for my viewing pleasure and thus began a journey into High Fidelity.
The Guarneri String Quartet is by all accounts the worlds longest running quartet of it’s kind. Made up of musicians Michael Tree, John Dalley Arnold Steindhart and David Soyer, this mix of viola, violins, and cello has been performing classical music together ever since their humble beginnings in 1964.
Taking place in the late 1980’s, we follow the quartet from each individuals home setting, to life on the road as they travel and perform for worldwide audiences. Even after so many years together there is still no distinct leader of the pack, and with each member having very strong opinions about the pieces they choose to play, no one is guaranteed anything.
