Joaquin Phoenix has had enough of the film business and is ready to take on the music industry. I guess he took Walk the Line a little more seriously than we all thought.
Yesterday he spoke with Extra and told them, “I want to take this opportunity, also to give you the exclusive, and just talk a little bit about the fact that this will be my last performance as an actor. I’m not doing films anymore. I’m working on my music. I’m done. I’ve been through that.”

New television shows seem to popping up faster than zits on a teenager these days. Every season there seems to be several new network shows boasting attachments to high-profile actors. But in recent years it seems that more often than not these names are of former A-List big screen players. Why do we see these stars making the jump? Steadier paycheck? Fewer location changes? Career revival? These are all reasonable answers for an actor to make their leap to syndication. Here are some big screen greats that have found marginal success as key players on television’s prime-time offerings.
Alec Baldwin- This award-winning, Oscar-nominated big screen star soared throughout the 90′s as an A-Lister. After Y2K paranoia fizzled out, it seemed as if Baldwin’s status did as well. He found himself taking cameo roles on less than stellar features(i.e. The Cat in the Hat) and guest spots on sit-coms(i.e.Will and Grace). But with Baldwin’s Emmy-Award winning performance as Tina Fey’s boss on 30 Rock, it’s easy to say Baldwin will remain a household name for sometime to come.

“It is understood a deal could be struck in the coming weeks.”

After making on of the most successful films of all time, the only rational question to ask is, “what’s next?” We’ve talked about possible villains, characters returning, and what will happen to the Joker without Ledger. But up to now, everything basically just been fanboy talk. Luckily, Christopher Nolan had a chance to take a break from accepting awards to speak with LA Times writer Geoff Boucher about the third Batman film. Sounds like Nolan isn’t prepared to jump on any bandwagons until he knows he can at least equal the quality of his most recent hit.
Check out a bit of the interview below:

Variety has confirmed that Disney wants Wall-E to be nominated not only for “Best Animation” but also “Best Picture.” The film was a huge hit at the box office, it’s worldwide total is $469,708,128, making it one of the top grossing films of the year, and already the 10th top grossing animation ever (and the DVD hasn’t even been released). But does that warrant a “Best Picture” nomination?
What do you think?

Director Rodrigo Garcia’s pyscho-thriller, Passengers, features trauma therapist Dr. Claire Summers (Anne Hathaway), whose latest assignment links her to the five survivors of a plane crash that killed over a hundred people. While the airline insists the accident was a result of the pilot’s mere laziness, the survivors seem to recollect a technical malfunction before the plane’s descent -leaving the airline at fault, and a larger case to crack. The survivors slowly, and mysteriously begin to disappear as pieces of the story unfold, prompting Dr. Summers to conduct her own investigations. She’s particularly intrigued by Eric (Patrick Wilson), whose recount of the accident is exceptionally vague in contrast to those of the other survivors. Professional boundaries are broken when her relationship with Eric escalates from patient to lover, and her desire for answers inspires a relentless journey to unveil the truth.
