I actually thought it was the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. The audience in the theater seemed to think so too. I hate when critics judge a movie by using other movies as "the perfect movie mold" and every movie must follow in the same direction. I enjoyed the quirky humor myself. Just because the nature of the movie is off beat doesn't make it bland. I totally disagree with this review and am disappointed in what has become such strick guidelines to what is funny and what isn't. Jim Carey is amazing in this movie and gives off a smitten, if you will, type of hilarity. It is definitely worth seeing. There is no possible way this movie could be construed as a regugitated joke, though I'm sure they thought that was a clever way to describe it.
