First Look: Mickey Rourke Plays Cowboy in 13
By Mali Elfman
Mickey Rourke is hot right now with The Wrestler building up Oscar hype, mainly due to his performance, but that isn’t slowing down his work schedule. Currently he’s playing a Texas cowboy in Director Géla Babluani’s remake of 13 Tzameti. Babluani wrote and directed the original and is returning to the project to make an American version. Sounds like a challenge. The cast is definitely interesting. The film stars Rourke, Jason Statham, Ray Liotta, Ray Winstone and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
This could be great of it could just fall of the face of film-earth. We’ll see! The trailer for the original film is below the jump.
Official synopsis: A naive young man assumes a dead man’s identity and finds himself embroiled in an underground world of power, violence, and chance where men gamble behind closed doors on the lives of other men.
What do you think? Do you want to see the American version?
The film has not yet been given a release date but is expected out in 2010.
