NEW PHOTOS: Depp and Bale in Public Enemies

As if the January 2009 issue of Empire Magazine wasn’t giving us enough already, they’ve gotten a hold of some exclusive pics from Michael Mann’s Public Enemies. The gangster movie that opens next summer, follows career criminal John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) and his gang as they rob banks, and duck the cops simultaneously. In this case the cops are more like FBI agents, and one in particular becomes a serious thorn in Dillinger’s side. The man is Melvin Purvis, portrayed by Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), and he makes it his life’s work to bring down Dillinger for every dirty deed he’s ever done.

Public Enemies will be released on July 1, 2009. The film also stars Billy Crudup, Channing Tatum, Giovanni Ribisi, Marion Cotillard, and  Leelee Sobieski.
