The modern master of Gothic horror, Guillermo del Toro is revamping Pinocchio, one of the most revered children’s stories of all time. According to The Hollywood Reporter, del Toro has signed on to executive produce an updated version of the classic that will be co-produced by the Jim Henson Co. Their version of the fairytale will be much darker than it’s predecessors, led by a more devious, and mischievous Pinocchio. The film will be shot using stop-motion animation, and will be co-directed by Gris Grimly and Adam Parrish King. Grimly has a background in illustration, and did the artwork for the 2002 version of Carlo Collodi’s Pinocchio.
