In one of the more highly anticipated movie waits for a Super Hero flick in sometime, Captain America now officially has a director. IESB is reporting that Joe Johnston has signed a deal to be at the top of the flick, which is set to come out in theaters on May 6th, 2011. The site is also reporting that actual writers for the movie should be inked shortly.

The official name of the movie is: “First Avenger: Captain America,” and will be the Marvel Studios version look at the classic comic book hero. Johnston first talked to Marvel about two years ago, and then the two sides eventually met about the actual Captain America project, and it was decided he was best to take on the role of director.

Johnston has been a part of designing the vehicles for ‘Star Wars’ and well as doing the storyboard for the convoy action sequence for “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
