The Gore and the Glory

Our obsession with death, particularly of the gruesome and horrifying variety, is perhaps nowhere more prevalent than on the silver screen. Watching our favorite stars impaled or decapitated is an oddly acceptable family past-time. As the Romans watched slaves fight to the death and the French decapitated their bourgeoisie in the public squares, so too do we partake in the perverse human curiosity for the obscene.
