The first of which will be occurring next Thursday, October 2 at 7:30 PM, where they will be screening 5 new up and coming female Directors. The first film will be Kate Hudson’s new short “Cutlass,” with Virginia Madsen, Dakota Fanning and Kurt Russell. The next is Lauren Greenfield’s “Kids & Money” which won the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the AFI Film Festival in 2007. Michelle Hung’s “Chinese Dumplings,” in which a strict mother tests the bonds of sisterhood. Nicole Mitchell’s “Zoologic,” a 2008 Student Academy Award winner. Lastly, the longest of the bunch at 40 minutes, Amanda Micheli & Isabel Vega’s Oscar-nominated documentary “La Corona” (The Crown), which looks at a beauty competition in a women’s prison in Bogotá.
After the screening there will be a discussion with the following directors: Michelle Hung, Nicole Mitchell, Amanda Micheli, Lauren Greenfield and Isabel Vega.
