The Oscars have come and gone, awarding the best films of the year and exposing movies many didn’t know about. However, if you’re looking for something more, if you’re just yearning to discover films beyond the glitz and glamor, then head on over Santa Monica, as the Aero Theatre and American Cinematheque present “2007’s Best Underrated Films.”
The full schedule includes:
- Sunday, March 2: The series kicks off at 7:30 p.m., with a double feature that includes Francis Ford Coppola’s “Youth Without Youth,” and Sidney Lumet’s “Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead,” starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke.
- Sunday, March 9: “Delirious,” and “The Interview,” both starring Steve Buscemi.
- Sunday, March 16: “King of California,” and “King of Kong.” Discussions might take place between both films’ directors Mike Cahill (”King of California”) and Seth Gordon (”King of Kong”) with the schedule permitting.
- Wednesday, April 2: “Romance and Cigarettes,” which has a handful of stars including Steve Buscemi, James Gandolfini, Kate Winslet, Susan Sarandon and Christopher Walken, and director John Turturro.
Descriptions of each film can be found at The American Cinematheque.
