The Aero on Montana Boulevard, will be celebrating Halloween with the tried and true Horror-Thon. Kicking off their frightening film festival is a Halloween party in Santee Village in Downtown Los Angeles, Thursday 25 October (link to details found on The Aero’s master calendar of upcoming event – yes a costume is required).
The party benefits Project Angel Food (a service which delivers food to those with HIV/AIDS and other serious illnesses) and American Cinematheque (a Los Angeles based organization that is dedicated to the public presentation of film).
The scary movie sprint begins the day after the party, Thursday October 26th, so nurse your hangover and when you being to feel human again, come by the theatre to see the double feature with the 1963 “The Haunting” and the classic 1944 ghost story thriller “The Uninvited,” starring Ray Milland. The following evening grants another double feature with the oddly disturbing “Demon Seed” and 1978 update of the original “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.”
The dusk-to-dawn, grindhouse-esque horror-thon peaks on the 27th, Saturday at 7:30pm when seven unfettered and absolutely gory, freakish films, “Return of the Living Dead,” “Freaks,” “From Beyond,” “Last House on the Left” (Wes Craven’s directorial debut), “The Children,” and lastly, “The Gates of Hell.” Finally, on Halloween night, The Aero will host the indisputable horror essential, one of the quintessential demon possession films, “The Omen.”
So if you are too old for trick-or-treating and just feel like being scared silly, pick a night – any night and visit The Aero for some fear-inducing fun.
